SUPER TYPE BROS.

The challenge was to create a type specimen book that explores and demonstrates the printing capabilities of Vectora, one of Adrian Frutiger’s many typefaces. The type specimen book should showcase the key components of the typeface in an interesting and captivating way. The type specimen book should explore the type family; apply advanced paragraph setting; establish typographic brand consistency; and structure editorial design.
-
The primary target audience of the type specimen book is professionals and students looking for a typeface to use for their projects. The specimen book serves as a resource/instruction manual for the typeface.

This type specimen book explores Vectora, one of Adrian Frutiger’s many typefaces. Frutiger created Vectora in 1991. It is a sans serif typeface that has a fun and playful feel to it. Taking inspiration from 1990s video games, the theme of this type specimen book is Super Mario Bros. Super Mario Bros. was first released by Nintendo in 1985 and grew incredibly popular during the 1990s. This type specimen book includes many elements of the game, taking inspiration specifically from the 1985 Super Mario Bros. In this type specimen book, the character Mario and the elements interact with Frutiger's Vectora to show the key components of the typeface.
This is a student project. Illustrations, design, and layout are created by me; copy is provided by Wikipedia; typeface is created by Adrian Frutiger; and Super Mario Bros. is owned by Nintendo.
